Aari embroidery kaftans
Flowing chain-stitch florals in the Kashmiri Aari tradition — and exactly how ours are made.
What Aari is
Aari work is named after the hooked needle, the aari, used to make it. The hook pulls thread up through the cloth in a continuous chain stitch, which lets the embroiderer draw flowing lines — vines, leaves and florals that sit slightly raised on the fabric.
Aari in Kashmir
Kashmiri Aari is known for its dense floral motifs — the chinar leaf, the almond, trailing vines — traditionally worked on shawls, pherans and home linen, and still used across the valley today.
How ours is made
Our Aari-style embroidery is worked by machine in the traditional patterns. That keeps the motifs even and the price at ₹1,200–₹1,400. Each piece is then cut, stitched and finished by our tailors in Pampore. Hand-embroidered work is a different craft at a different price — for hand Sozni, message us on WhatsApp.
Good to know
Is your Aari embroidery handmade?
No — it’s machine-worked in the traditional Aari pattern, and we say so plainly.
How do I care for it?
Wash cold, inside out, and iron around the embroidery rather than over it.
