Embroidered kaftans last years if you wash them gently. Here is what each fabric needs.
Summer cotton
- Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle, or by hand
- Mild detergent, no bleach
- Do not wring — press the water out
- Dry in shade; direct sun fades the thread
- Iron inside out, avoiding the embroidery
Crushed cotton
- Gentle cold wash, by hand where possible
- Do not wring — the crush texture is part of the fabric
- Hang to dry in shade; it needs almost no ironing
- If you must iron, use low heat inside out
Chiffon
- Cold hand wash only
- No rubbing, no wringing
- Dry flat in shade
- Iron on the lowest setting with a cloth over it, or steam it
Poly cotton
- Gentle machine wash cold
- Dries quickly; keep out of direct sun
- Low-heat iron inside out
Storing
Fold rather than hang for heavily embroidered pieces, so the thread does not pull. Keep them dry and away from direct light.
Normal, not a defect
- Slight colour variation between your screen and the cloth
- Small thread ends on the reverse of the embroidery
- Minor variation in motif placement between pieces
If stitching or embroidery develops a genuine manufacturing fault within 12 months, we repair or replace it. That covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear, fading, or damage from misuse or incorrect washing.
